With the results of COVID-19, LifeServe Blood Center’s blood supply has been greatly hurt. LifeServe is the SOLE provider of blood products to all of the Des Moines hospitals. Without generous donors, patients in hospitals may go without the necessary blood products for their health related issues. Also as a result of the pandemic, we have unfortunately seen MANY of our summer blood drives cancel. This has caused us to have a dangerously low blood supply for those in need in the DSM area.

Safety is our top priority for our team members, blood donors, and the safety of the blood supply. We are enforcing the following precautionary measures:

• Appointments are required. Donors who do not have appointments will not be able to give blood.  
• We are asking that blood donors pre-screen themselves for fever prior to appointments. Only donors with temperatures under 99.5 will be allowed to donate. If your temperature is higher than 99.5, please reschedule here or by calling us at 800.287.4903.
• Blood donors are required to wear a mask for the duration of their appointment. If you do not have a mask, we will provide you one.
